States and Retirement Security Stakeholders Meeting

October 7, 2015

The CRI hosted a roundtable discussion with California Treasurer John Chiang and Illinois Treasurer Michael Frerichs, members of CRI’s Council of State Advisors.  The purpose of the meeting was to gather grassroots organizations who have been instrumental advancing retirement security initiatives at the state level to visit with the Treasurers and their key staff for an update on the status of program implementation and to discuss key issues and challenges.  We appreciate the participation of organizations including AARP, AFT, AFL-CIO, Brookings Institution, CFED, Latinos for a Secure Retirement, National Council of LaRaza, NCPERS, Pension Rights Center, SEIU and WISER.

We were delighted to host Treasurer John Chiang, Christina Elliott, Acting Director of the CA Secure Choice Program, Illinois Senator Daniel Biss, Treasurer Michael Frerichs and Julian Federle, Chief Policy and Programs Officer, Office of the Illinois Treasurer, for the roundtable discussion.
